I often hear customers ask the after-sales engineers of Jiukun air compressors a question like this: Can the ordinary air compressor motor replace the variable frequency motor?


Answer: It is definitely not possible, because in simple terms, ordinary motors are designed according to constant frequency and constant voltage, and it is impossible to fully use the requirements of frequency converter speed regulation, so it cannot be used as frequency conversion motor.


Let's first clarify the difference between ordinary motors and variable frequency motors from the following aspects:


First, ordinary motors can only work for a long time under power frequency conditions, while variable frequency motors can work under conditions of higher or lower power frequency for a long time.


For example, the power frequency of our country is 50Hz. If an ordinary motor works at 5Hz for a long time, it will soon fail or even be damaged. The appearance of variable frequency motors solves this deficiency of ordinary motors.


Second, the cooling systems of ordinary motors and variable frequency motors are different.


The cooling system of an ordinary motor is closely related to the rotational speed. In other words, the faster the motor rotates, the better the effect of the cooling system. On the contrary, if the motor rotates slowly, the cooling effect will be greatly reduced, while the variable frequency motor does not have such a problem.


Third, the difference between ordinary motor and variable frequency motor design.


For ordinary motors, the main performance parameters considered in the design are overload capacity, starting performance, efficiency and power factor. Since the critical slip ratio is inversely proportional to the power frequency, the variable frequency motor can be started directly when the critical slip ratio is close to 1, so overload capacity and aerodynamic performance no longer need to be considered too much, and the key problem to be solved is how to improve the motor's anti-aircraft performance.
