How to properly clean the oil circuit of the air compressor

The oil circuit system of the screw air compressor is like the human vascular system. We must ensure its smooth flow. Once it is blocked, there will be fatal consequences. Blocked blood vessels will lead to dangers such as dementia and mental retardation. Similarly, if the oil circuit of the air compressor fails, the air compressor will not work. Therefore, we need to clean the air compressor regularly to ensure the normal operation of our air compressor.

1. Analysis of the cause of the failure

Oil-injected screw air compressors all use a closed circulation of cooling lubricating oil and operate at a high temperature for a long time (generally at 75--88℃), so there may be different degrees of oil carbon deposition, fouling, acidification and other deterioration phenomena. Due to carbon deposition and other reasons, it may cause damage to oil circuit components (such as solenoid valves, temperature control valves, etc.), oil circuit blockage, poor heat exchange effect and other failures.

2. Maintenance content of the oil circuit system

(1) Disassemble and inspect the oil cut-off solenoid valve and diaphragm.

(2) Disassemble and inspect and clean the temperature control valve and components.

(3) Disassemble and inspect, clean the oil circuit, pipes, joints, etc.

(4) Disassemble and inspect, soak and clean the heat exchanger.

For water-cooled models, soak the water circuit system with scale remover.

III. Maintenance effect

The operating temperature can be significantly reduced, and normal operation can be ensured under high conditions.

IV. Cleaning agent and use

Oil circuit cleaning: Use a special carbon deposit cleaning agent. Add 1 gallon of carbon deposit cleaning agent concentrate to every 10 gallons of compressor oil in each machine. First, ensure that enough compressor lubricating oil is drained so that the carbon deposit cleaning agent can be added to the storage tank. Then run the compressor continuously for 40 to 60 hours. In order to prevent the redeposition of suspended pollutants, the lubricating oil in the compressor must be drained when the oil is still hot to achieve good results.

Water circuit cleaning: Use a special scale remover, which needs to be heated and soaked before use.
