Why does the gas discharged from the screw air compressor contain oil?

When we use screw air compressors in our daily life, customers often ask us why the gas discharged from the screw air compressor contains oil. Let me briefly explain it to you.

1. The oil-gas separation core of the screw air compressor is damaged

During the operation of the screw air compressor, if the oil separation core is damaged, such as broken or perforated, it loses its oil-gas separation function. That is to say, the mixed gas and the exhaust pipe of the compressor are directly connected, so a large amount of oil is not separated and will be discharged from the body along with the gas, resulting in oil leakage during the exhaust process.

2. The return oil pipeline of the screw air compressor is faulty

During the operation of the screw air compressor, the return oil pipeline shoulders an important responsibility. A pressure difference will be formed between the inside of the oil separation core and the compressor inlet. Under the action of this pressure difference, the return oil pipeline is responsible for transporting the oil at the bottom of the oil separation core back to the compressor for continued use in the next cycle. If the oil return line is blocked, broken, or installed incorrectly, the oil at the bottom of the oil separation core cannot be transported back to the compressor, resulting in too much oil accumulated at the bottom. This part of the oil will be discharged with the gas, which will cause oil to be carried during the exhaust process.

3. The system pressure control of the screw air compressor is too low

During the operation of the screw air compressor, if the system pressure control is too low, the gas flow rate in the separator will be too fast, and the role of the separator will not be reflected, which will cause the gas in the separator core of the next link to contain too much oil, exceeding its separation range, and causing oil-carrying failure during the compressor exhaust process.

4. The minimum pressure valve of the screw air compressor fails

During the operation of the screw air compressor, the function of the minimum pressure valve is to ensure that the system pressure is controlled above the minimum pressure during operation. If the minimum pressure valve fails, the minimum pressure of the system will not be guaranteed, resulting in oil-carrying failure during the flat exhaust process.

5. Too much cooling oil is added to the screw compressor

Before the screw compressor is running, too much cooling oil is added. During the operation of the compressor, due to the high oil level, although the separation system separates the oil and gas, the gas will also draw the cooling oil into the gas during the gas discharge, so that the exhaust gas contains too much oil and an oil-carrying fault occurs.

6. The quality of the cooling oil of the screw compressor is unqualified

Before the screw compressor is running, unqualified cooling oil is added, or the cooling oil exceeds the applicable time and can no longer achieve the cooling effect. Then during the operation of the screw compressor, the cooling oil loses its function and cannot cool and separate the oil and gas. Then the phenomenon of oil carrying will occur during the exhaust process.
