Eight common air compressor troubleshooting

1. The air compressor cannot start


First check whether there is control voltage. If not, check whether the fuse is intact; if there is control voltage, check whether the control relay and time relay are operating normally.


2. The air compressor does not start smoothly


It automatically stops after a few seconds of startup. Check the electrical aspects, such as whether the automatic air switch is activated, whether the voltage is normal, whether the closing degree of the air intake butterfly valve is normal (the compressor cannot be started with load), and whether the contactor and the three phases of the motor are normal during startup.


3. The air compressor does not supply air


Check whether the control cylinder is moving. If so, check whether the butterfly valve has mechanical failure; if there is no failure, check whether the loading electromagnetic ISV coil has suction; after eliminating the mechanical failure and coil failure of the ISV electromagnetic valve, check the sub-circuit where the electromagnetic valve ISV is located one by one.

4. The exhaust pressure of the air compressor is too low. Check the pressure before and after separation, whether the manual valve and the regulating solenoid valve 2SV are leaking; then check whether there is any leakage in the air pipeline, whether the butterfly valve is fully open, whether the air intake regulator is working properly, whether the solenoid valves 3SV and 8SV are leaking, whether the pressure switch IPS needs to be readjusted, etc. 5. The air compressor stops due to oil injection. First check whether the oil cut-off solenoid valve 5SV has voltage and whether the mechanical part is normal; if it is normal, check the check valve and reassemble or replace it. 6. The exhaust temperature of the air compressor is too high. The exhaust temperature is generally between 80 and 95°C. If there is not enough lubricating oil for cooling, the temperature will be too high and cause failure. First, check whether the ambient temperature, compressor lubricating oil, oil level, oil quality, cooling fan, etc. are normal; then check whether the oil cooler and aftercooler are clean, whether the temperature control valve element, oil cut-off solenoid valve voltage and valve body are normal. If the diaphragm is damaged or the temperature control valve core does not work, it needs to be replaced; finally check whether the oil filter is dirty or needs to be replaced.


7. The air compressor consumes a lot of oil


Check whether the condensate discharged by the steam trap contains too much oil, whether the compressor oil level is too high, whether the opening pressure of the small pressure valve is normal, whether the return oil pipe is blocked, whether the oil separation core is blocked, etc. The above problems will affect the oil consumption and should be dealt with in time.


8. The air compressor automatically stops during operation


Check whether the machine stops normally; then check whether the automatic switch and thermal relay are working, whether the cooling fan motor stops, or the exhaust temperature is too high, or the pressure is too high, etc., and whether the motor voltage is normal.
