Six-step method for troubleshooting air compressors

Requirements for troubleshooting air compressors:

1. Make sure the machine is on a flat surface and check whether the safety pins, blocks and parking brakes are properly assembled.

2. When two or more workers operate together, they should strictly follow the unified signals agreed upon by everyone and do not allow anyone without authorization to approach.

3. Pay close attention not to touch any hot parts to avoid burns. Do not be caught by rotating parts.

4. When disconnecting the wire, be sure to first remove the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

5. When unscrewing a screw plug from a part under oil, water or air pressure, first release its internal pressure before disassembling it. When installing the measuring device, be sure to connect it properly.

6. The purpose of troubleshooting is to accurately identify the root cause of the fault so that it can be repaired and eliminated quickly and prevent the fault from happening again.

7. When troubleshooting, it is important to understand its structure and function. However, simple and effective fault finding is to ask the operator a variety of questions in order to form some general ideas about the possible causes of such faults.

1 When troubleshooting, do not rush to disassemble the parts

If the parts are disassembled immediately after the fault occurs, then:

1) Parts that are not related to the fault or other unnecessary parts will be removed.

2) It will become impossible to find the cause of the fault.

This will also cause a waste of man-hours, parts, oil or grease, and at the same time, it will also make the user or operator lose confidence in finding the fault.

For this reason, when troubleshooting, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis and research in advance, and then perform fault finding according to the prescribed procedures.

2 Several questions to ask the user or operator:

In addition to the problems mentioned in the report, are there any other problems?

Before the fault occurred, were there any other abnormalities in the air compressor?

Did this fault occur suddenly? How did the air compressor operate before this? Are there any other problems?

Under what circumstances did the fault occur?

Was it repaired before the fault occurred? When was it repaired? How was it repaired?

Has a similar fault occurred before?

3 Inspections to be performed before troubleshooting:

Inspect all abnormal phenomena of the air compressor.

Check the various items in "Inspection before startup".

Other inspection items.

Other maintenance items can be checked from the outside, so check all items that are considered necessary.

4 Confirm the fault

Confirm the scope of the fault by yourself, and decide whether to treat it as an actual fault, as a problem of operating method, etc.

When operating the air compressor, re-present the signs of its fault, and do not perform any exploration or measurement that may make the problem worse.

5 Fault finding

Use the analysis and inspection results of the second to fourth items to narrow the scope of the cause of the fault, and then use the fault finding table (matrix) to accurately identify the location of the fault.

The basic procedure for fault finding is as follows:

Start with a simple point.

Start with a possible point.

Analyze and study other related parts or information data.

6 Measures to eliminate the root cause of the fault

Even if the fault has been repaired, if the root cause of the fault is not eliminated, the same fault will occur again. In order to prevent this from happening, it is always necessary to analyze why the problem occurs. Then eliminate its root cause.
